Irish Reflections – A Commemoration of the Irish Women of 1923

Galway City Council, Galway Public Libraries, and Galway City Museum working together are proud to present "Reflections," a programme commemorating the remarkable Irish women of 1923 as part of the Decade of Centenaries 2012 - 2023 initiative, supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports, and Media. This multifaceted project, in development since August 2023, is a heartfelt tribute to the women who shaped Irish history during a pivotal era. It has offered a platform for in-depth discussions, artist residencies, and creative exploration of their lives and contributions. Artists in residence Áine Philips, Emily Cullen and Tracy Bruen.

Cathair na Gaillimhe le bheith ina Chéad Údarás Áitiúil le Díosal Bóthair a Bhaint as Flít na bhFeithiclí Móra

Beidh Comhairle Cathrach na Gaillimhe ar an gcéad Údarás Áitiúil sa tír a chuirfidh deireadh le húsáid an díosail bhóthair ina flít na bhfeithiclí móra, i ndiaidh á n-aistriú go hOla Glasraí Hidrea-chóireáilte (OGH) mar fhoinse breosla in-athnuaite. Baineann OGH suas le 90% de na glanastaíochtaí Dé-ocsaíd Charbóin, rud a laghdaíonn freisin truailleáin dhíobhálacha ar nós Dé-ocsaíd Nítrigine agus ábhar cáithníneach, a d’fhéadfadh asma agus feidhm scamhóg lagaithe a bheith mar thoradh astu agus a d’fhéadfadh fadhbanna anála a dhéanamh do chuid dár saoránaigh.
