Persons living in a residential property in Galway City can avail of the service. The service is not available to commercial properties.

Bulky Goods collections take place each Tuesday.
Collections must be booked in advance and the collection of electrical items is undertaken separately from that of general furniture items. To book a bulky goods collection please contact the Customer Service Team.

How should I present my items for collection?
Items should be left to the front of your property or as close as is possible to the front access gate by 8am on the morning of the collection. Items should be covered with plastic to protect them from rain damage - particularly items that are not waterproof such as mattresses or suites of furniture. We will endeavour to collect your items between 8am and 5.30pm on the designated collection date.
Customer should note the following:
- Galway city council staff will not collect items that are not presented as close as possible to the front access point of the dwelling.
- Only items that are paid and accounted for will be collected.
Can I cancel my Bulky Goods Collection?
Bulky Goods collection orders may be cancelled no later than 4pm on the Friday evening prior to the Tuesday collection date by contacting Customer Service.
Please note that all payments are non refundable.Is there an alternative option for disposing of household or electrical items?
Yes – customers have the option of disposing of unwanted household or electrical items, free of charge, by bringing them to Galway City Council’s recycling centre in the Liosbán Industrial Estate.

Retailers are obliged to accept back electrical and electronic items free of charge on a like for like basis (i.e. If you purchase a kettle, the shop you purchase from are obliged to take back the old kettle if you wish to dispose of it).
