Love Your Beach 2025: A Three-Day Celebration of Galway’s Stunning Beaches and Coastal Ecosystems

Galway City Council, in partnership with Clean Coasts, is proud to announce the launch of Love Your Beach 2025, a family-friendly, three-day event set to take place from Wednesday, 14 May to Friday, 16 May 2025. This event will celebrate the beauty, biodiversity, and recreational value of Galway’s beaches, including Ballyloughane Beach, Grattan Beach, Ladies Beach, and Silverstrand. All the activities are free to attend and passers-by are welcome!

‘Circular City Galway’ Sewing Workshop Encourages Sustainable Creativity

A series of three successful sewing workshops took place over three evenings at the Galway Bay Hotel earlier this month, offering participants the chance to learn sewing techniques through the medium of spectacular African print fabrics, with local designer Virtue Shine. The workshops were funded by Galway City Council through the ‘Circular City Galway’ initiative, which promotes the prevention of waste and the creative reuse of materials.

A delegation led by Galway City Council has returned from a successful three-day visit to Lorient, France marking the 50th anniversary of the Galway-Lorient Twinning. The milestone visit which took place from 20-23 March 2025 reinforced the strong cultural, economic, and maritime ties between the two cities, highlighting their shared commitment to sustainability, education, and innovation.

The residents of Wellpark Grove, Galway City, are delighted to announce the successful completion of a laneway project accessing O’Sullivan Park, named in honour of Jimmy O’Sullivan of Mervue, a founding member of Mervue United. The initiative was funded by Galway City Council to enhance the laneway environment and foster community spirit in the Wellpark area.

Seán Canney, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment, and representatives of Trinity College Dublin, Atlantic Technological University, ESB Enterprise Car Club and Galway City Council today launched the first of four shared eMobility eHubs at Westside Library Car Park at the heart of the decarbonisation zone in Galway City.
