The Salthill Village and Seafront Framework Plan is a project to explore local priorities and help identify and formulate ideas for improving Salthill village and seafront.

Galway City Council is currently progressing the delivery of Affordable Housing.

Schemes where Affordable Housing is available will be publicly advertised across the Local Authority website, local newspapers and social media.

The Local Authority Home Loan (LAHL) is available for people who are unable to obtain sufficient funding from commercial banks to purchase or build a home.

Galway City Council is the Building Control Authority for the City of Galway. Building Control should not be confused with Planning Control which enforces the Planning Conditions for a Development.

Local Authorities and Approved Housing Bodies are now seeking to purchase and renew housing units that are in need of remediation, and make them available for social housing use.

The Planning and Development (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2018 provides an exemption for a period of time for the change of use and related works of vacant commercial premises for residential purposes.

Local authorities may offer choice to approved housing and transfer applicants in selecting a new home. Applicants can express an interest in houses which are advertised.

This scheme was introduced to help bring vacant and derelict properties back into use as family homes and rental residential units.
