A non-motorised transporter is a mode of transport which does not contain either a fuel engine or electric engine such as a rickshaw or horse drawn carriage otherwise know as a hackney carriage.

    A Licence is required to operate a non-motorised passenger vehicle within the area and its boundaries controlled by Galway City Council in accordance with theNon-Motorised Passenger Transporter Bye-Laws 2013

    The cost of license is €100.

    Payment of the fee may be made by cash, cheque or credit card at the cash office in City Hall, College Road, Galway.

  • Can I appeal a refusal to grant a licence for a Non-Motorised Passenger Transporter?

    An applicant may appeal a decision of the Council to refuse an application by

    writing to the Director of Services, Roads and Transportation Maintenance Section, Galway City Council, City Hall, College Road, Galway, within one month of the date of the refusal of the application.
