The impact of climate change with predicted sea level rise, greater frequency of storm surges and wave overtopping makes Salthill vulnerable to coastal flooding. There are a number of ways that Salthill can become more climate resilient. This includes ways to help with drainage, so that roads and public spaces are better prepared to deal with higher and more extreme rainfall and wave overtopping. Certain plants and trees and nature-based solutions can also provide additional benefits, including shade from the sun and absorbing rainfall.
