How can I pay for my Housing Rent

HOUSEHOLD BUDGET – via the Post Office

Household Budget allows people who receive certain Social Welfare payments at the Post Office to make Housing Rent payments to Galway City Council by direct deduction from their social welfare payment. There are no fees or charges for use of this service.  The maximum amount that can be deducted is 25% of your total weekly social protection payment

NB: Please note that Household Budget payments may take up to 6 weeks to commence. Pending commencement of your Household Budget deduction, you are therefore required to make alternative arrangements for payments in order to prevent your Housing Rent account from falling into arrears.  See other payment methods below.

STANDING ORDER – via the Bank / Credit Union

A Standing Order is an instruction from a customer to their bank to make a regular Housing Rent payment of a fixed amount to Galway City Council.  Customers can set up standing orders via their banking online service or in person at their bank. 

NB When setting up a Standing Order, please ensure your Housing Rent Account number is quoted on ALL your bank payments to Galway City Council to facilitate correct receipting of your payment to your Housing Rent account. 

Download the Standing Order form at the link below.  You can either use Galway City Council’s bank details on the form to set up the Standing Order via online banking yourself, or complete and take the form to your bank for set up.

BILL PAY CARD – at the Post Office

You may make Housing Rent payments at the Post Office using a BillPay Card.  BillPay is An Post’s free bill payment service.  Each time you pay, you will receive a receipt confirming the amount paid and quoting your Housing Rent Account number. You should check your receipt to ensure your payment amount and account number are correct.

IN PERSON – Galway City Council

You may make Housing Rent payments in person at the Cash Office in Galway City Council by cash or Debit card.  The Cash Office is located on the Ground Floor at Galway City Council, City Hall, College Road, Galway.

You should have your Housing Rent account number to hand when making your payment.

 

ONLINE – MyCoCo.ie

You may make Housing Rent payments to Galway City Council online on www.mycoco.ie.  This facility is available on both desktop and mobile devices.

In order to create an account on MyCoCo.ie, you will need to know your Customer Rent Account number and your PIN.  You can request your PIN from Galway City Council by emailing accountsreceivable@galwaycity.ie.  Your PIN will be issued to you by post. 

Once registered on MyCoCo.ie, you will also be able to view your transactions, see account balances and view statements.  Please note it may take up to 24 hours to view your statement and allow payments to be made.
