What is Africa Day?
Africa Day is an annual global celebration of the people, cultures and immense potential of the African continent. It offers an opportunity for communities to come together and honour the richness and diversity that Africa brings to our shared world.
Across Ireland, Africa Day is marked nationwide, with all 31 Local Authorities hosting a vibrant mix of cultural, artistic and family friendly events. From contemporary African‑Irish showcases to fashion, art, film, music, dance, and food, every county plays a part in celebrating the energy, creativity, and cultural vibrancy of African communities.
In 2026, a full programme of events will once again be organised and delivered by local authorities. Learn more on the Department of Foreign Affairs website: Irish Aid | Africa Day
