Grattan beach is a coastal beach which is heavily affected by tides. The Dunes are consistently damaged and Galway City Council in conjunction with local groups, businesses and organisations wanted to develop a roadmap to assist in the protection of the dunes, protection of biodiversity and promote the area as an exemplar for how communities and local government can collaborate to achieve joint benefits.

Galway City Council encourages collaboration with all projects. The roadmap includes for continuous collaboration and involvement by stakeholders and Galway City Council intend to issue various calls for assistance throughout the lifetime of the roadmap
