Energy Master Plan

Galway City has an ambitious target to achieve a 51% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030, in line with the requirements of Ireland’s Climate Action Plan.

Decarbonising Zone

A decarbonising zone is a spatial area identified by the local authority, in which a range of climate mitigation, adaptation and biodiversity measures and action owners are identified to address local low carbon energy, greenhouse gas emission and climate needs to contribute to national climate action targets.

Climate Action Plan

Ireland’s Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act (2021) Ireland is now on a legally binding path to net-Zero emissions no later than 2050, and to a 51% reduction in emissions by the end of this decade.
