Update - September 2024
Works to enhance the junction of The Crescent/Sea Road are to begin from October 7 2024. These works are scheduled to take five months.
This scheme will deliver improved safety for walkers, wheelers and cyclists, including vulnerable road users and children.
The works will include:
- The provision of raised tables at the entrance to Crescent Green and The Crescent/Sea Road junction.
- The narrowing of the Sea Road junction.
- Provision of footpath along The Crescent South linking bus stop with Medical Centre.
- Incorporation of rain gardens into The Crescent/ Sea Road junction upgrade with increased planting.
- The provision of a pedestrian crossing on Fr Griffin Avenue directly west of the junction with St Pauls Road.
- The provision of a pedestrian crossing on The Crescent, directly east of the junction with Palmyra Park.
- Provision of safety bollards and road marking on Sherwood Avenue, Taylor’s Hill and St Mary’s Road approaches to Scóil Fhúrsa.
- Small adjustment of Bus Stop on The Crescent moved to safer location along new footpath.
This project is funded by the National Transport Authority and delivered by Galway City Council. A contractor is being appointed to carry out the works.
