Galway City Council, in partnership with Clean Coasts, is proud to announce the launch of Love Your Beach 2025, a family-friendly, three-day event set to take place from Wednesday, 14 May to Friday, 16 May 2025. This event will celebrate the beauty, biodiversity, and recreational value of Galway’s beaches, including Ballyloughane Beach, Grattan Beach, Ladies Beach, and Silverstrand. All the activities are free to attend and passers-by are welcome!

Love Your Beach 2025 offers a range of fun and educational activities for all ages, with a focus on raising awareness about the importance of our coastal ecosystems and promoting environmental sustainability. The event will feature 2-minute beach cleans, fun activities for children, educational workshops, and even yoga sessions at Silverstrand Beach, allowing participants to enjoy the beauty of our coastline. Fáilte Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way team will also be around to talk about the importance of tourism and the environment.

Event Highlights:

  • 2-Minute Beach Cleans: Participants will take part in quick, impactful beach clean-ups, helping to maintain the cleanliness of Galway's beaches while fostering a sense of community responsibility.
  • Circus 250:  A short sea-themed circus act followed by interactive discussion about what we find in the ocean, and hands on juggling and plate spinning workshops
  • Educational Workshops: Local environmental experts will lead workshops on topics such as coastal ecosystems and marine life.
  • Yoga on the Beach: Start your day with a calming and restorative yoga session on Silverstrand Beach, led by experienced instructors, offering a peaceful connection to the natural surroundings.
  • “Think Before You Flush” Campaign: Clean Coasts will continue its important advocacy with the promotion of the “Think Before You Flush” campaign, encouraging responsible waste disposal to protect our beaches and oceans.

On the launch of the event, Fergal Cushen, Environmental Awareness Officer with Galway City Council, commented, "This annual event continues to highlight the importance of beaches not only as outdoor recreational amenities but also as vital coastal habitats. There’s so much to explore and learn, and this event is a fantastic opportunity for Galway’s community to connect with and protect these precious environments."
