Galway City Council, in partnership with This is Galway, is excited to announce a new pilot initiative to showcase and promote the city's vibrant night-time economy. A dedicated digital "What's On" guide will serve as a central hub for all events and activities happening in Galway City after 6pm, making it easier than ever for families, foodies, music fans, theatre buffs or late-night shoppers to find out what’s going on where across the city. Businesses and event organisers in the city are invited to add their events, free of charge, to the guide. See ThisisGalway.ie/NightTime

The ‘Galway by Night’ guide can be found on the This is Galway website, a resource used annually by over 1 million visitors and locals alike to discover food, shopping, tourist attractions, family and other events in the City.  This will be regularly communicated with over 220,000 social media followers and millions more who view This is Galway’s social media channels each month.

Galway by Night will be featured prominently on ThisisGalway.ie, showcasing events and activities taking place after 6pm. The website itself will dynamically transition to a "Galway by Night" theme from 6pm onwards.

"Galway City Council recognises the importance and significance of Galway's night-time economy, and this partnership is a key step towards showcasing its full vibrancy and diversity," said Kate Howard, Night-Time Economy Advisor at Galway City Council. "The digital 'What's On' guide will be an invaluable resource for both locals and visitors, making it easier than ever to discover and enjoy Galway's unique evening and night-time experiences."

The development of this initiative is a direct response to feedback gathered during the consultation process for the night-time economy action plan. A key area identified for improvement was the communication of night-time activities in Galway City. This pilot initiative aims to:

  • Raise awareness: Ensure everyone knows about the exciting night-time experiences Galway offers.
  • Enhance visitor perception: Showcase the city's diverse and dynamic night-time scene.
  • Create coherent messaging: Provide a unified voice about Galway's Night-Time Economy, highlighting its vibrancy and safety.

Call to Action: Promote Your Event or Activity
Galway City Council invites businesses, cultural groups, artists, venues, and community organisations hosting public events in the core business area of the city centre and Salthill after 6pm to participate in the "What's On" guide – free of charge.

To get involved, simply email Kate Howard, Galway's Night-Time Economy Advisor, at Kate.Howard@GalwayCity.ie with a brief summary of your event. You will then receive a special code to access the events page, where you can add all the necessary details and promote your offering.

"We encourage everyone to get involved and help us shape the city's night-time culture and economy," added Ado Lyons, Digital Marketing Executive at This is Galway, "Together, let's showcase the best of Galway by Night."
