Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) consider matters connected with the formulation, development, monitoring and review of policy for Galway City Council. The membership of SPCs is made up of City Councillors and external representatives from local sectoral interests. Following the Local Elections, a new scheme is now proposed for the next five years.
Submissions on the Draft Scheme are now invited and may be made online on www.GalwayCity.ie or in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Services, Galway City Council, College Road, Galway not later than 4:00pm on Monday, 26 August, 2024.
The Draft Strategic Policy Scheme 2024-2029 is available onwww.GalwayCity.ie or from the Corporate Services Department, Galway City Council.
The six Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) proposed cover the following areas of activity
- Social Development
- Operational Development
- Project Development
- Urban Development
- Corporate Development
- Tourism Development
External Representatives will be drawn from the following sectoral interests:
- Environment/Conservation
- Culture
- Development/Construction
- Business/Commercial
- Trade Unions
- Community/Voluntary
- Social Inclusion
Following the adoption of the SPC Scheme by Galway City Council, nomination of Sectoral representatives to the Strategic Policy Committees will be undertaken.
