Galway City Council Social Work is a consent based, voluntary service. We empower people to solve issues in their everyday lives, identify and understand sources of stress or difficulty, develop coping skills, and find solutions to their problems.
Under this scheme, you can apply to Galway City Council to buy your local authority house. If approved, you must continue to live in the house for as long as you own it. You will get a discount on the price of the house based on your income.
Once a housing need has been established Galway City Council will endeavour to meet this need through the delivery of the Traveller Accommodation Plan and in accordance with the Scheme of Letting Priorities.
