Salmon Weir Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge

As part of the Galway Transport Strategy, Galway City Council is proposing the provision of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Corrib adjacent to the existing Salmon Weir Bridge.

EIA Screening Determination - Salmon Weir Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge (June 2020)

Notice is hereby given that Galway City Council propose to construct a pedestrian and cycle bridge adjacent to the existing Salmon Weir Bridge.  The proposed development is to be located between Gaol Road and Newtownsmith in Galway City Centre and will cross the Lower River Corrib.Section 50(1) (d) of the Roads Act (as amended) states that where the construction of the proposed public road (the bridge falls into this classification) is located on a European site (or other important sites as listed in section 50 (1) (d)), the authority proposing the development must make an Environmental Impact Assessment screening determination and must also make the decision publicly available.  The determination was made on 25 June 2020 and is available for viewing by the public.
