    If you wish to use a crane/hoist/cherry picker on a public road or footpath, you must complete an application form.

    The application form can be downloaded from the link above or alternatively contact:

    The completed application form should be returned to the Roads Section, at the above address, by post, fax or in person to the public counter (9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday).

    The following fees apply:

    Application fee (non-refundable):
    €100.00

    Suspension of One Paid Parking Space if applicable - (non-refundable) (during operating hours - not applicable outside operating hours):
    €20 per day or part of day [if in hours].

  • Am I required to pay a bond?

    A bond may be required depending on the type of operation being undertaken. If there is any lifting of heavy loads, please contact the Roads Section of Transport, Infrastructure, Recreation & Amenity to enquire if a bond will be required.

    Refundable Deposit (to repair damage to pavement surfaces):
    Crane: €1,000
    Hoist/Cherry picker: €500

    Additional charges may be applied upon consideration of the application.

    Payment can be paid by cash, cheque or credit card at the cash office, City Hall, Galway City Council, College Road, Galway.
