If you wish to use a crane/hoist/cherry picker on a public road or footpath, you must complete an application form.

What is the time frame for approval of application forms?
- Mobile Crane - Minimum of 5 weeks.
- Cherry picker/Hoist - Minimum of 3 days.
(Excluding weekends & Bank Holidays)

Is there a fee to erect a crane/hoist/cherry picker?
The following fees apply:
Application fee (non-refundable):
€100.00Suspension of One Paid Parking Space if applicable - (non-refundable) (during operating hours - not applicable outside operating hours):
€20 per day or part of day [if in hours]. -
Am I required to pay a bond?
A bond may be required depending on the type of operation being undertaken. If there is any lifting of heavy loads, please contact the Roads Section of Transport, Infrastructure, Recreation & Amenity to enquire if a bond will be required.
Refundable Deposit (to repair damage to pavement surfaces):
Crane: €1,000
Hoist/Cherry picker: €500Additional charges may be applied upon consideration of the application.

What are the methods of payment?
Payment can be paid by cash, cheque or credit card at the cash office, City Hall, Galway City Council, College Road, Galway.
