Due to the super moon, unusually high tides are expected along with strong onshore wind, with wave overtopping and potential flooding.

We are in a period of supermoon spring tides and Met Éireann has also issued a High Tide Advisory Warning with effect from 12:00 Wednesday 21/08/2024 to 12:00 Friday 23/08/2024 for all coasts. The combination of strong winds, high waves, forecasted surge, and tidal prediction means that coastal flooding is possible in places.

Galway City Council crews will be on hand during this period monitoring a possible Road Closure from the D’Arcy Roundabout at Seapoint as far as the Galway Business School.
- Toft Car Park will be closed off to the public until further notice.
- Salthill car park will be closed off to the public from 1pm on Wednesday 21/08/2024 until further notice.
- Silverstrand road/car park will be closed off to the public from 7am on Wednesday 21/08/2024 until further notice.
- Ballyloughane Beach Road will be for local access only until further notice.
