New regulations concerning XL Bully Dogs was introduced making it illegal to own or keep these dogs without a Certificate of Exemption. Current owners must apply for this certificate by 1st February 2025 through Galway City Council Here or by contacting environment.section@galwaycity.ie. The dogs must be licensed, microchipped, neutered and comply with strict safety requirements in public spaces.
