The Central LEA count will continue.
The West LEA will not commence until the Central count concludes, or the East recount concludes. A further update on this will issue at 5pm.

Media Count Centre Access June 2024
(30.05.2024) The count centre for the Galway City Local Elections on Saturday 8 June 2024 (and any subsequent days) is Westside Community Centre, Seamus Quirke Road, Newcastle, Galway H91 R853.
The centre will open circa 12pm. The first ballot papers for Galway City East LEA are expected between 12pm and 1pm.
Due to space limitations, all media accessing the count centre will require accreditation, in advance, from Galway City Council.
If your media outlet requires access, please email Communications@GalwayCity.ie by Wednesday 5 May 2024 with the following details:
- Media Outlet Name
- Staff Names attending the count
- Staff emails
- Staff mobile numbers
- Please advise if filming or taking photographs
These details will be used by Galway City Council in relation to the Local Elections 2024 count only, and will not be shared with any other party.
Please note:
- Wi-Fi and tables in the count centre will be available to media
- While every effort will be made to facilitate access by the media while the count is on-going, numbers may be restricted for health and safety at very busy times.

A Freephone number is now available for vision impaired voters. You will be able to hear a list of candidates for the Galway City Council Local Elections, on Friday 7th June 2024, in the order in which they appear on the ballot paper. This list is available in both Irish and English.
You can familiarise yourself with the candidates on the ballot paper by contacting this number as often as you wish in advance of polling day.
You can also use your mobile phone in the polling station centre on polling day to access this information.

If you are a vision impaired voter wishing to vote in secret, please ask the Presiding Officer at your polling station to attach a ballot paper template to your ballot paper.
